Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes in acting, singing and dancing. The actress had performed in several Stagecoach or school shows before she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie version to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first appearance in a film was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It also was one of the top-rated films in 2001. Opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
