Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes in acting, singing and dancing. Reviewers praised the film, and especially the young performers. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performances "amazing". Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
